Grave Generator envisions a divergent future of metal

100% synth, 100% metal

After the release of debut single "Excavating Marrow," South Korea-based Grave Generator unveils his innovative vision for the future of metal on There Is No Peace Amongst The Stars.

Producer and singer Nic Heidt's passion for the genre—not to mention musicianship—is readily apparent from the first punishing hit. Breakneck riffs are met with extraordinary bass and drum programming, turned on their head by deft time signature changes and transitions, drowned in riff-face-inducing breakdowns and brought all the way back around to do it over again.

Grave Generator performs alchemy with his use of synthesizers in place of guitars in the album's exceptional production, exploring both personal pain and global issues. Amidst the death, groove, and industrial-metal influences (including hints of peak-era Ministry), there are truly surprising moments throughout the EP.

Paying homage to the metal gods while subverting the genre was always the plan:

"I felt like metal had stopped surprising me lately. It was beginning to sound very homogenous. The guitar and bass tones, the drums, certain vocal layers...they all just felt too similar to each other. I hadn't popped in a new album and thought, 'Damn, what is that?' in forever. I want to change that." - Nic Heidt
