Justin K Broadrick

For fans of heavy music — and several of its variously punishing/terrifying and sad/ethereal permutations — Justin K Broadrick is a household name. First emerging in 1985 as the guitarist in seminal UK grindcore band Napalm Death, the artist went on to found the massively influential industrial-metal band Godflesh.

Years after the genre-defining stint, while on hiatus from Godflesh, Broadrick re-emerged with jesu, his long-running post-metal project. Amidst decades of worldwide touring, prolifically writing, producing, remixing and releasing albums via his own Avalanche Recordings, other enduring projects include the no-nonsense hard techno/industrial of JK FLESH, the dark ambient and power electronics of Final (originally formed alongside Andy Swan of TACTICAL PAGAN) and the experimental electronic and IDM of Pale Sketcher.

Over a storied career, Broadrick’s art has remained consistently remarkable, exciting and at times, unpredictable.

Having released Pale Sketcher’s lost treasure Golden Skin and a series of innovative work with Avalanche Recordings, GIVE/TAKE’s latest from Broadrick is the warehouse-destroying JK FLESH / MONRELLA (Mick Harris, fellow ex-Napalm Death, Scorn) split, SHOUTING THE ODDS. Due for release April 10th, 2026.
