Sultry and whip-smart Apology Kink debuts with two knockout singles
On lead single "Let Me Be Your Heartthrob," Los Angeles-based Apology Kink exudes sultry, cheeky charm. Thumping synth pop and an irresistible chorus give way to a shade of goth beguiling listeners to fall under the intoxicating spell of Apology Kink, from deathpop luminary Augustus Watkins (Bijou Noir, Tulip Tiger, DEATHDANCE).
The b-side, "Cult of Your Touch" goes just as hard, dialing up the haze with EBM bass synth, cracking snares and gorgeous, sparkling leads. Between Watkins' aching vocals and the song's haunting solo piano outro, classic synth pop vibes abound. Goth allure flirts with anthemic dance floor-ready production, as pop charm looks on with seductive approval.
In February of this year, Apology Kink quietly released a rendition of “West End Girls,” which Sounds and Shadows praised as a “glitchy synth sass take on the iconic Pet Shop Boys hit.” For his first two originals, “Let Me Be Your Heartthrob,” and "Cult of Your Touch," Watkins has teamed up with frequent collaborator Garrett Neal (Usonia, Holidae, Netflix, HBO).
