"Leans harder into our industrial tendencies more than anything either of us has done..."
"Tasted Me", the follow-up single from DEATHDANCE's EP Réveiller (avail. now), receives special remix EP treatment from familiar faces such as Rob Robinson (Hate Dept., ohGr), DogTablet (Martin King of Test Dept), hellasus and ManifestiV.
DEATHDANCE have the following to share on this slice of pure auditory transgression:
"The spirit of DEATHDANCE is trust and collaboration. Because we work mostly remotely, each song’s success relies on us to hear the possibilities in each other’s work-in-progress, and then trust that when you reconfigure it into something stranger and even more beautiful, the other will hear the same.
Opening that dynamic up to a group of new collaborators felt exciting and even a little dangerous. We couldn’t have imagined the soundscapes we would receive back. Each is expertly crafted, and yet wildly experimental. The remixers who kindly worked with us seem to have truly caught our spirit.
“Tasted Me” is a challenging song from both a technical (it’s always weird to remix in a 6/8 feel) and a sonic standpoint. It leans harder into our industrial tendencies more than anything either of us has done, so it was only fitting to work with industrial heavyweights Rob Robinson (Hate Dept., ohGr), Dogtablet (Martin King of Test Dept) and ManifestiV. And then there’s hellasus, who somehow found a dreamscape within the nightmare.
"Tasted Me" is a mutated beast, but each collaborator managed to create a singularly vibrant and powerful cacophony in their versions."
