DEATHDANCE - The Blessing
GIVE/TAKE is proud to announce “The Blessing,” a brand new, sprawling hourlong, deeply detailed, mysterious and occasionally unsettling composition by producers DEATHDANCE.
Based respectively in Prague and Minneapolis, DEATHDANCE members Augustus Watkins and KPT used the difference in time zones between them to their advantage, writing and recording the piece nonstop in a marathon 24 hour intercontinental session.
“The Blessing” will premiere on Thurs. Jan. 17th as a part of University of British Columbia CiTR Radio 101.9FM’s “24 Hours of Radio Art”.
This is currently the only medium in which "The Blessing" will exist. Airing on specifically-curated radio shows and stations, such as a film might travel festival circuits until its eventual release.
Hailed as “the spiritual offspring of Nine Inch Nails,” DEATHDANCE is a collaboration between KPT and Bijou Noir's Augustus Watkins. The duo's production has grown into a richly dark, brooding "mixture of electronic and industrial power."
Their 2014 self-titled EP was released to international acclaim and quickly reached #27 on the iTunes electronic charts the week of its release. DEATHDANCE's 2016 EP, "Dormir", expanded on this sound and aesthetic, earning notoriety in their hometown of Minneapolis, MN and abroad.
Combined, DEATHDANCE has performed with the likes of Die Antwoord, Justice, The Orb, Blanck Mass (Fuck Buttons), Lizzo, Poliça, Kirin J Callinan, Communist Daughter and many more. “Réveiller” is due 2019 on Give/Take.
